How to Quickly Bulk Change Image Names

If you have a lot of images and need to adjust their names and a quick manner, below is a breakdown on how to do it.

When would I need to adjust a lot of image names?

Let’s say you needed to upload dozens of images quickly and need to have different file names.

A lot of times, images have whatever service they are from as the name, followed by a number.

Or if you want to code your site to show an image based on a number (aka randomize the images). Image-name-1, image-name-2, etc. You can then randomize the images to show by adding a random number dynamically to the -# area.

Example:

  • Imagename-1
  • Imagename-2
  • Imagename-3

You can create a random number between 1 and 3 each time the page loads to randomly show a different image.

If you you wanted to show a bunch of random Personal Injury related images for example, you could name them personal-injury-#. Note, you wouldn’t want to show too many of the same image name on a page as that would be overdoing it with a keyword.

The Tool

You can use this tool to quickly upload the image names.

Step 1: Download XnConvert

Step 2: Add File or Images

Once you are ready to update your images, click the add files or add folder button.

  • Select filename
  • Example, image-title-#

Once done, check the folder or area where your images are.

Once you are done, you can then upload your images with all different names.
