Google+ Shows Number of Profile and Content Views
A new feature has just been added to your Google+ profile and business page. It’s the ability to see how many times your profile or content was viewed. You might be asking yourself, what counts as a view? A view is recorded when someone clicks on your profile, posts, photos, or videos.
The popularity of your Google+ profile or business page is taken into consideration within Google’s algorithm for your website rankings. This is a great way to find out how popular your profile is and many people have actually viewed your content. If the number of views was not as high as you expected, you should contemplate being more active on Google+ and other social media networks. They are all powerful tools to boost your web presence.
Matt Cutts, head of Google’s Webspam team, has more than 9 million views! I’m sure he’s not bashful about showcasing this number but if you are don’t worry, there is a way to hide the information on your profile.
Follow the directions below:
- Open Google+ and click Home in the upper left corner.
- Click Settings > scroll to “Profile.”
- Check or uncheck the box to the left of “Show how many times your profile and content have been viewed.”
Unfortunately, this setting cannot be altered from a mobile device and must be done through your desktop/laptop.
A disclaimer from Google, “Please keep in mind that view counts may not be exact, and they may not be updated in real time.”
