What SEO Campaigns and Your Gym Membership Have in Common

Your SEO Campaign Won’t Work Unless You Do

The Analogy: You cannot benefit from your SEO campaign or gym membership unless you, the account holder, take action and stay continually involved.

Everyone knows that a gym membership is a necessary evil if you want to lose weight and stay healthy. Something everyone might not know, but what every marketer understands, is that staying involved in your internet marketing campaign is a necessary evil to produce the best possible results.

Your gym membership and the contract for your SEO campaign are just pieces of paper that confirm you’ve paid for a service. In order to make them work on your behalf, you need to take action.  At a gym this means showing up, lifting weights, and running on the treadmill. At an internet marketing firm this means, replying to emails, making prompt decisions, and accurately describing your goals.

The more often you visit the gym, the more weight you will lose. The more often you converse with our team and consider our recommendations, the higher you will rank. Ultimately, like most things in life, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

What We Expect from SEO Clients

We get it – you’re paying us for a service, so why should you have to do any work?  We do most of the work for you, but there are some things we just can’t do. No one understands your firm better than you do, and when it comes time to make decisions you need to be the one to make the call. Because, ultimately, only you know what is best for your firm.

Our clients should expect to be involved in their SEO campaign, especially when we discuss the following:

  • Keywords – During this phase we determine what the most important area of practice is to the growth of your firm. We will show you the research and crunch the numbers, but you have to ultimately decide what to target. We do our best to recommend the phrases that match the goals outlined in your SEO brief, but we need the firm’s decision and approval on what to ultimately target.
  • Blogging – Creating content for your website is a feat, but it is critical to the success of your campaign. It takes work from you and your entire team to ensure content is posted regularly. Even if you hire PaperStreet to write content for you, there are topic approvals and a review process for each post – you have to be involved.
  • Social Media – Maintaining your social media accounts is a daily commitment. We offer social media services, but since Facebook, Twitter and Google+ are all about connecting and networking with others, the most successful posts are going to come directly from you.

You cannot benefit from your SEO campaign or gym membership unless you, the account holder, take action and stay continually involved.

Effort Equals Results

Ranking high in Google search results is not something you can achieve overnight, not even with a magic diet pill. You can’t cheat your way out of the hard work and expect results worth having. The number one slot on Google (just like a bathing suit body) is worth fighting for. So show up … and play hard.
