Email Setup with Outlook
2002
- Open Outlook 2002, select Tools from
the top menu, and then E-mail Accounts... from
the pull down list
- In the E-mail category,
select View or change existing e-mail
accounts and click the Next button
to continue
- Select your existing E-Mail account, and
then click the Change... button
- On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) page
you will need to verify your information for
each of the six fields. For Your Name make
sure your name is entered, for E-mail
Address make sure your provided
e-mail address is entered. In the User
Name field make sure your
user name has been entered (which is your full
e-mail address) and in the Password field
re-type your password to ensure it's entered
correctly. For Incoming mail server
(POP3) ensure that it's entered as mail.your-domain.com.
For Outgoing mail server (SMTP) make
sure it's set to mail.your-domain.com.
- Next, click on the More Settings... button.
This will take you to the General tab.
Ensure that the Mail Account is
a descriptive name for your E-Mail
account, and then select the Outgoing
Server tab at the top.
- Make sure that My outgoing server
(SMTP) requires authentication is
checked. You must have the authentication
checked and use the same settings as my incoming
mail server.
- On the Connection tab, make
sure that Connect using my local area
connection (LAN) is selected or if
you are using dial-up, please use that, and
then click the Advanced tab
at the top
- On the Advanced tab, make
sure that your Incoming server (POP3) is
set to 110 and your Outgoing
server (SMTP) is set to 25.
Click OK to return to the
main Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) window.
Finally, we suggest that you do not leave a copy of the email on the server as
the server has a set capacity.
- At this point, you can test your settings
by clicking the Test Account Settings... button.
If everything is configured properly, each
of the tests will have a green check mark next
to them. If any of the tests fail, go back
and make sure that each setting is configured
correctly.
- After you close the Test Account
Settings... window, click Next and
then Finish. You are now
able to send and receive your
E-Mail using Outlook 2002.
