Maria’s work is a culmination of her experiences whether they are cultural, professional or educational. Influenced by pedestrian gestures, break dancing, classic modern and theatre, MariaColaco’s work appeals to a wide audience. The work is often inclusive of text and theatrical elements. Fusing so many influences and experiences, Maria’s work ultimately benefits from a refusal to accept the established boundaries between sacred and secular, classical and pop, comedy and tragedy.
