A Spring Cleaning List for Your Website

We all know many of the old ways of doing business have virtually vanished. When was the last time you used a phone book or Yellow Pages?

Most businesses recognize they need to take advantage of current technology to effectively compete in their industry.

One of the best ways to do that is with an up-to-date website. It can serve as much more than just an “electronic brochure.”

Things outdate very quickly today. A computer you bought 10 years ago would maybe last three or four years (if you were lucky). Now …  maybe two.

Your website is no different: Styles change and navigation and functionality improve.

Here is a quick “spring cleaning” list for your website:

  • Do you have an immediate call to action?
  • One of the latest trends is a responsive design, which automatically resizes to the device being used i.e. any smartphone, tablet, iPad, notebook or desktop. Is your current website responsive?
  • Do you have the ability to make changes to the website yourself? You should. Small changes that can easily be done should not take an inordinate amount of time and effort. Submitting work tickets and calling to request edits is a waste of your valuable time and annoying, at the least.
  • Do you use social media? Do you need social media – if for nothing else – to get indexed by the search robots for a higher ranking?
  • Do you have a blog? Do you use it? Companies that blog attract 55 percent more user traffic.

Like it or not  the world is changing quickly. It is hard to believe that Apple launched its first smartphone in 2007 – not even seven years ago.
